Recognizing Our Spirituality Part 2

Mar 9, 2025    Pastor Bobby Clark

This powerful message challenges us to examine the depth and authenticity of our faith by exploring a profound truth: not everyone who believes they are saved actually possesses genuine salvation. Drawing from John 2:23-3:16, we discover that many people in Jesus' time believed in Him because of His miraculous signs, yet Jesus did not entrust Himself to them because He knew their hearts. The encounter with Nicodemus, a respected religious leader, reveals that even a lifetime of religious devotion and biblical knowledge cannot substitute for being born again. The message confronts us with the sobering reality that demons also believe in God and tremble, yet remain unsaved. This isn't about accumulating good deeds to earn salvation, nor is it about cheap grace that allows us to live however we want. Instead, we're called to move beyond merely knowing about Jesus to truly knowing Him personally. The challenge is clear: we must examine whether our faith rests on what Jesus has done or on who Jesus is. Are we following a biblical Christ or a cultural version of Christianity? This message urges us to ensure our faith is anchored in the Jesus who died, rose again, and offers the only way to eternal life through genuine relationship and surrender.
